This policy explains how TripBuddyHub handles personal information. It is written for visitors in the United States, including California, and for people in the UK and EEA. Contact privacy@tripbuddyhub.com. We will provide a postal address for formal notices on request.
Information we collect
- Account data: name, email, password hash, date of birth, and sign-in method.
- Profile and trips: city, country, languages, interests, bio, photos you upload, and trip plans.
- Messages between members, reports, blocks, and cost-split notes you save.
- Membership status. Card numbers are handled by Stripe, not stored by us.
- ID checks: Stripe Identity processes the document and selfie. We store the result (verified or not) and a session id. We do not keep the ID image in our database.
- Privacy requests, contact messages, and, if you allow analytics cookies, a daily count of page views on our own server.
How we use it
We use this information to run accounts, show trips, deliver messages to paying members, take membership payments, check age, moderate reports, send membership and renewal emails, and answer privacy requests. We do not use profile data or ID results to advertise other companies' products.
Sale and sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Service providers such as Stripe, an email sender you configure, and a hosted database process data only to run TripBuddyHub. California residents can still submit a Do Not Sell or Share request, and we will record and honor it.

California privacy rights
If you are a California resident you can ask to know, correct, or delete personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing. You can also ask us to limit use of sensitive information. Date of birth and government ID data are sensitive. We use date of birth to confirm you are 18 or older, and ID results for safety badges, not for advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. You may use an authorized agent. Submit a request on the Do Not Sell page or email privacy@tripbuddyhub.com. You can also download a copy of your data from the account page and delete the account there.
UK and EEA
If those laws apply, our legal bases are contract (running your account and membership), legitimate interests (safety and moderation), consent (non-essential cookies), and legal obligation (responding to lawful requests). You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, and you can object. You can complain to your local supervisory authority. You can also email privacy@tripbuddyhub.com.
Cookies
- Essential: sign-in session, age confirmation, and your cookie choice. These stay on if you reject other cookies.
- Preferences: the currency you pick. Off if you reject non-essential cookies. Until then, we estimate currency from your browser language without storing it.
- Analytics: a first-party daily page-view count. Off unless you accept. We do not load advertising cookies.
The banner offers Accept all and Reject non-essential with equal buttons, plus Manage. You can reopen it from Cookie settings in the footer.
Retention and security
We keep account data while the account is open and delete or detach it when you delete the account. Moderation records may remain without your name if a report must be kept. Stripe keeps payment and identity data under its own policy. No method of storage is perfectly secure.
Children
TripBuddyHub is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect their information. If we learn an account is under 18, we delete it.
International transfers
If you use a hosted database or email provider outside your country, information may be processed there. Use providers that offer appropriate safeguards before a public launch.
